Dr. Cathy Head, DNP
is a nurse practitioner with a doctorate in nursing, focused on adult health. She has been in practice for over twenty years and has worked in various aspects of obesity and lifestyle medicine, helping clients achieve a better state of health. She takes a multi-factor approach to obesity, treating it as a symptom of underlying inflammation. After working with several patients experiencing weight-loss resistance, she noticed that these patients’ symptoms lined up with chronic inflammatory response (CIRS), a condition of a dysregulated immune system causing systemic inflammation. In CIRS, the immune system continues to send inflammatory signals to the body’s tissues long after the body is under threat by a toxin, infection, or virus, thus affecting weight and and all body systems. Dr. Head now specializes in getting to the root cause of CIRS and treating it so that patients can return to a baseline of health.
Using an integrative approach to the treatment of CIRS, Dr. Head is data-driven in diagnosis and treatment, while also interested in using non-traditional forms of medicine to restore health. She is a Shoemaker Proficiency Partner Diplomate for CIRS and follows the researched-backed Shoemaker protocols, which developed from a standardized process of peer-reviewed research into a formalized method for healing patients affected by CIRS.
